magical fall

This is the playground we go to, because it is near where we live and because we have always liked this playground; even before we lived in town we would drive over, even if I had to pay for parking, even if we didn’t know any of the other kids who went to this playground, because it is big and has three teepees that weren’t meant to climb on but are perfect for it. It has a giant sandpit and countless trees. It has a lone horse from a long-ago dismantled carousel, a horse from which both my sons have fallen. It has a jungle gym like a pirate ship and swings and slides and a water fountain. It has a vegetable garden tended to by volunteers. It has a rock castle from which both my sons have fallen. And the light it has in fall takes my breath away.
