ever the resourceful one

My six-year-old has been asking to be allowed to stay home alone since he was just shy of three years old.

He brought it up again tonight and I said not yet.

“When I am seven?”

“Maybe when you are seven.”

“When I am eight?”

“Probably, if I just have to run out for a minute. But first you need to know how to call my cell phone number in case of an emergency.”

“Or you know, Mommy, there is something we could get. I saw it on a commercial on TV. It’s a special collar, and if you’ve fallen and you can’t get up, you press a button and someone comes to help you.”

I can’t believe that they are still showing that commercial. Funny how he picked up in it and how he used it to try and get what he wants…very resourceful!

YES! I remember those things… That joke has spanned generations.
